Many of us have had painful lessons in the area of BACKSLIDING.
Backsliding is departing from the presence and love of the Lord, and applies to both regular and irregular church attenders, resulting in ungodly principles re-entering our lives.
Away from the protection of God's umbrella, we almost immediately, without realizing it, condone these principles. Satan cleverly diverts us from our primary responsibilities -praying, reading the Word, fellowshipping etc. We find ourselves busy in other areas, finding excuses not to do as God asks.
In time doubtful ideals become respectable, while spiritual things near and dear are allowed to collect dust on the mantelshelf of our lives.
Often about this time we ask God to understand what we are doing. "He will understand my predicament if I tell him" - . Perhaps it's a de-facto relationship, perhaps an abortion, or a drinking spree, or one of a number of things. Our experience is that we don't really want to listen to God's quiet voice on these matters - so we don't.
Naturally He understands - but He cannot accept that which He gave his son Jesus to die for - can He? Think about it.
Godly sorrow worketh repentance (2, Cor. 7:10) "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness". (1. JN. 1:9).
So being sorry for our actions, repenting properly at depth, clearing away the debris of our experience, we renew our relationship with Him. We then resume our journey with Jesus fully restored as Lord of our lives, and all our circumstances.
"Was this Gospel of Jesus Christ going to confuse me further? My mind was confused by several philosophies and ideologies already".
"Through the riches of His Glory, we had been strengthened with might by His spirit in our inner man". (Eph. 3:16)
The light dawned. It was the inner man that yearned attention - not the mind.
Confusion cleared, new love flowed, new initiative and new direction took solid footing. Joyously I found this to be the testimony of multitudes before me. And it was free".
For some, the need to face,
Terminal illness, Disease, Pain, Infirmity, Impending Death
And some others just realized their personal need to be put right with God, both for here and Eternity.
For their own personal reasons deep on the inside - a call perhaps to do so, or a call to serve Him.
NOT BY
POWER, AND NOT BY MIGHT, BUT BY MY SPIRIT, SAITH THE LORD. Zech. 4:6.
