Koinonia Fellowship.
Fellowship with Jesus builds
relationship - the divine nature which is for all time. Here the Lord's Supper
when ministered as planned brings KOINONIA fellowship. This word means
social intercourse. We become intimate, or we' make love with Jesus '.
Intercourse in marriage is to bring deepest intimacy - the two becoming one. The two ' know'
each other. And we are Jesus' bride, yes ! See how His courtship has a pattern!
Remember we said earlier God can only bless that which is according to His
pattern ! Let's look a little further and see how this word is used by God.
Matthew 1:29 tells us Joseph had no union with Mary, he never knew Mary
till after Jesus' birth. He was not intimate with her. They did not have
intercourse.
1 Corinthians 10:16 mentions
fellowship twice. It's the same word. From the Amplified Bible
'The
cup of blessing (of wine at the Lord's Supper) upon which we ask (God's)
blessing, does it not mean (that in drinking it we participate in and share a fellowship
(a communion ) in the blood of Christ (the Messiah) ? The bread which we break,
does it not mean (that in eating it ) we participate and share a fellowship
(a communion) in the body of Christ ?' In Acts 2:42 the apostles themselves
gave instruction, broke
bread including the'Lord1s supper,
prayed, and fellowshipped in KOINONIA fellowship.
And in Matthew 7:23 he says ' depart from me, I don't know you' to those not having done His will; likewise to the virgins in Matthew 25:12, ' I do not know you, I am not acquainted with you'. Obviously it is so important that we should grow to know and recognize Him as He would have us.
Let's look at the two disciples walking along
the road to Emaus. (Luke 24: 13-25).
Have a read, it's an interesting
browse.
It appears they had all the
knowledge they needed, practical outworking, a very deep desire to follow
Jesus, but it appears the penny hadn't dropped. The heart relationship, the
completion of their quest came when?
In V30 at the breaking of the bread.
NEW FRUIT
In our separate walks, the
blessings from these revelations of the importance of our Lord's table and
putting them into practice started to
produce good new fruit. Guidance, healings, all sorts of areas. Though none of
us anywhere have 'got it all together’, we' re on track, and this is proving to
be ' a key to the whole understanding of Christianity ‘. We hunger and thirst
for more and we press on. When we see how simple it is, we see how it has been
missed. It is as though Satan has kept his thumb and forefinger on our jugular
veins - regulating the flow of our Christian lifeblood. ' My people perish
through lack of knowledge……’ (see
Hosea 4:6. ). Yes, the problem was ours to fix, no-one elses. No blame. We just
fixed it with God.
CAUSE OF SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS
We looked further. We saw in Joel 1:9-13 what happens when God's kids become inattentive and lazy. God uses the word slothful and without communion we are blind. Things for them became tragic. God cannot bless lack of effort, only effort. Faith without works surely is dead indeed. 'Be doers of the word ' says God with love and mercy.
A GUEST ROOM Luke 22:11
On the way to the passover where
Jesus delivered the Communion instructions to His disciples, He instructed
Peter and John (V8) to go on ahead where they would come to a house with a
Guestroon. A Guestroom (in Greek) means a place for personal encounter, where a
person may be accosted, which means to encounter or meet with, to call out, to
properly address by name, to call forth/upon/for, invite, proclaim, publish,
read or say.
So we can see that at His lovefeast He invites us to participate today. For us he has His messages, His love, His fellowship, and more. Not only do we accept His invitation to share His Supper, at His table, but wherever we might be having this Lovefeast, be it at home, church, hospital, jail, office, we are in His Guestroom, coming closer to His bosum like John all the time ! Nice thought isn't it !
